Christopher Lackner

Chris began his career in Washington, D.C. at Peter Hart Research, one of the nation’s premier public opinion and polling firms. From there, he managed the successful 1995 re-election campaign of Virginia Delegate Watkins Abbitt. In 1996, Chris returned to Illinois to coordinate and create television ad campaigns for Democratic candidates to the Illinois General Assembly. In 1998, he was responsible for direct mail campaigns in key races for the Indiana House Democrats.

After taking a break to work in the corporate and nonprofit/environmental worlds, Chris returned to politics in 2002, helping create and execute direct mail campaigns for candidates to the Ohio and Georgia legislatures.

Chris served as interim press secretary for Alexi Giannoulias’ successful campaign for Illinois State Treasurer in 2006. In 2007 and 2008, he provided field support for Obama for America in Iowa, Ohio and Indiana. He also served as press secretary for Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin’s campaign for State’s Attorney. In 2009, he provided communications support for Tom Geoghegan for Congress.

Chris has served as spokesperson and communications strategist for several high-profile public affairs and public relations projects, including the closing of the landmark Berghoff restaurant and the campaign to ban smoking in the city of Chicago. In 2000, he managed the media center for 11th World Conference on Tobacco OR Health, a five-day international event attended by more than 5,000 medical professionals, public health advocates and government officials from more than 100 countries. In addition, he has created community relations and outreach strategies for dozens of government agencies, businesses and nonprofit groups.

Chris is a graduate of Indiana University and lives in Chicago’s Logan Square community.
